No surprise, but I picked up this Ricoh Singlex TLS at the local market. Initially, the film advance lever was jammed and the aperture blades were slow to stop down, but with a bit of love, care, and patience, it came back to life.
This camera was released in 1967 and is a solid 35mm SLR featuring an M42 screw mount, which means it works with a wide range of classic lenses. It has a built-in TTL (through-the-lens) CdS light meter, manual exposure controls, and a satisfying mechanical shutter that feels reassuringly solid.
Ricoh wasn’t as widely known as Nikon or Canon, but they made seriously great gear, as evidenced by the first Ricoh I purchased, the FF-3 AF and this one’s now shooting like a champ again too!
