This is my first Pentax, picked up at the Negreni market in October 2026! The guy who sold it to me had quite a nice collection of cameras himself, many complete with their original manuals and accessories.

This particular K1000 caught my attention because it came with three rather nice lenses, an Agfatronic flash, the original manuals and lens caps, all neatly packed into a perfectly organised carry case!

Introduced in 1976 and produced until 1997, the K1000 became a favourite among photography students thanks to its simple controls and sturdy construction. It’s a fully manual 35mm SLR, so focusing, aperture and shutter speed are all down to the photographer. The built-in light meter helps with exposure, but the shutter is entirely mechanical, meaning the camera can still take photographs without a battery.

There’s something quite satisfying about that simplicity. I’m actually super happy with the results from mine, and it seems to be a solid shooter!
